There is no application fee. For non-EU/EEA students the tuition is EUR 726.72 plus a students' union fee of EUR 24.70 per semester (per-semester total EUR 751.42). Annual cost (2 semesters) EUR 1,502.84; total for 4 years EUR 6,011.36. Most students recruited through the VBC PhD programme have tuition fees refunded by the respective institute. PhD students are hired by institutes on full-employment contracts; gross salaries range between EUR 39,000 and EUR 42,900 per year (2025) subject to tax. Residence permit costs are typically refunded in most cases.
