Research applications are generally accepted on a rolling basis and may be submitted at any time; however, the normal closing date for applications is June 15. Exceptions exist for some programmes (e.g., Traditional PhD in certain colleges with September and January commencements).

Applicants normally require a high honours primary degree in a relevant discipline; a Master's degree is more usual. Admission requires the support of an academic staff member approved to supervise the research. A research proposal may be required. Typical doctoral duration is four years.
