Applicants must hold a Master’s degree from a reputable university; the PhD must be in a field relevant to the proposed research. Admission is project- and supervisor-dependent and requires available funding for the project. English proficiency proof (TOEFL iBT 100/22 each or IELTS Academic 7.0/6.5 each) is required unless exempt (native speakers or holders of an English-taught Master’s degree).

Tuition fee: EUR 11,000 per PhD programme. In addition, bench fees vary by faculty and project (example: CEG bench fee EUR 80,000; example total EUR 91,000 for 4 years). Funded PhD positions treat students as employees with a salary; bench fees are charged to the institute or to the candidate if not funded by an institute.
