Fees and Funding
PhD students do not pay tuition; doctoral students receive a salary. Enrollment-related fees include a CHF 1500 doctoral tax at completion and a registration fee at the start of studies (amount not specified). The basic starting salary of an EPFL doctoral assistant is CHF 55,225 gross per annum (valid from 01/01/2026). Financial support in the form of a salary is available to all admitted PhD students.
